Congratulations on joining ED! You probably fit into one of these categories:

1. New User

Before making your first article look over ED:101. Try checking out random articles and fixing typos, grammar and/or bullshit where you find them before trying to make a new page. To start with, make multiple small edits to different articles until you have the hang of it. If you don't, it is unlikely that your article will survive for more than sixty seconds and you risk being molested by ED Sysops.

If you don't know anything about wiki formatting and code, please read ED:BASIC and the Style Guide. Take your time and start slowly.

2. Mediawiki Migrant If you're an experienced wiki user (probably from a Wikipedia offshoot) who knows how to operate, please read ED:101 for offical policy and ED:MIGRANT for tips on assimilation and basic rules.

Whichever you are, to successfully contribute to ED, please take some time to look around, note why other people get banned and don't act like they did.

Communication with other users prevents misunderstandings and can be done through talk pages, TJC and the mailing list.

Nice. Veddy veddy naice. It's amazing the lulz you can squeeze out of the most obvious things. Hey, just read Madman C. I like it, and I see no reason why we shouldn't take the same stance as Wikipedia, albeit a much more cruel one. Also, I lol'd at the quote.

And regarding a question earlier adding racists to the cancer template - I do agree, but I'm not so sure if they're really the worst of the problem. I think that the extreme and unnecessary racism on 4chan is quite funny, although most people realize it's only in joking. It gets to be a problem when people take the shit seriously, start getting upset, start creating "BAW I HATE MINORITIES" threads, and place racism above humor. However, on the flip side, I also feel that the non-racist push is also a problem. I can't tell you how many times I've seen /r9k/'s first page filled with enragingly shitty, pseudointellectual "WHY IS EVERYONE SO RACIST? BAWWWW" threads (this isn't so much a problem on /b/, but then again, /b/'s first page is usually filled with copypasta and slowpoke combos). Anyway, I don't think it's so much a problem on 4chan as it is ED. As you know, unfunny racism is a big problem on ED, but the template in question is about the cancer plaguing /b/, not ED. Come to think of it, maybe we should have a separate template for ED's problems... although there would probably be a good bit of overlap. Anyway I'm beginning to ramble. I'll add it since it certainly is a problem, and people that create unfunny, tiresome debate threads piss me off (eurofag vs. americunt, mac vs. pc vs. linux, religion, etc).
