Talk:Slashfic

is slash always homo?

  • Yes. Even though heterosexual pairings still use the slash (Ann Coulter/Dom DeLuise, for a particularly heinous example), the resulting fiction is called het. Some people have objected to the fact that the default term refers to those godless fags and tried to replace "slash" with "ho" (for "homo"), providing a certain level of parity, but they've largely failed.--hardvice
but wait, so Terri Schiavo/Tom Delay slash is still called slash, but it's het slash? Is there some other term to use in that link? SchmuckyTheCat 20:12, 25 Mar 2005 (UTC)
  • I suppose that anything that involves more than two people is at least a little gay, right, since there's only two sexes? I'd leave it as is. It also kinda implies that Tom Delay and Jeb Bush aren't merely taking turns, if you follow me.--hardvice
  • I think the newer term is now "hetfic" --Alexjon 00:19, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC)

incorporate it maybe?

Trying to put in an example of slash fic from an lj user, and got edited out? How can it be an encyclopedia if you do not use an example? - Heinz doesn't sign his comments.

  • Because you're not putting an example in - you're merely linking a livejournal, and that's all you did. To three articles. RTFM, faggot. -- 23:03, 5 Oct 2005 (UTC)

A term used in fanfiction to denote a homosexual pairing between two characters. The pairing is usually represented with slashes (Final Fantasy 7: Sephiroth/Cloud), 'x's (Star Trek: SpockxKirk), or a fusion of the two names (Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Xandrew, Spander).

Many slashfic writers are usually teenage girls who don't write much hetfic. Some slashfic writers try their goddamnest to create new and unusual pairings, and many end up creating mini-followings for these pairings. Prime examples of this are Spug, who created the Marvin The Martian/Invader Zim pairing, and Zarla, who wrote the fanfic 'Vargas' that created the Edgar/Johnny C. pairing from Johnny The Homicidal Maniac.

Common Slashfic Fandoms

For an example of slash/fic, see an lj example concerning Harry Potter Some people have problems with slashfic because they're afraid of upsetting the creator of the fandom, or they think the characters are too het/too asexual to have sex with another man. These are fair opinions and most slashfic writers respect them, so long as you don't leave a Trollish flame (see Flame Wars) on their fanfic.

A subdivision of slashfic is femmeslash - or lesbian fics. Most people use slash when referring to either gay or lesbian pairings, but if you want to be accurate, you should denote which it is.

Random Fact: Many fandoms are over 50% slash. Out of the 50%, you can probably find at least a dozen MPREG fics and a few ones with bad sex scenes.

  • I moved this bit to the main page - I don't think it's supposed to be here...

crap on main page?

eh?? --Trex 10:19, 22 Sep 2005 (UTC)

  • worst main page article ever. it does, however include the word "fairer" and who exactly is the "poster above". Keep this up and I'm not renewing my subscription and you'll go broke. BiGPimpin 14:00, 22 Sep 2005 (UTC)
  • wow, the article is crappier now than when it was labeled Crap --Fo0bar 18:45, 22 Sep 2005 (UTC)
  • Well screw you. Feel free to re-label it.

OK, I added SpokeXKirk, and also link an example of slash fic, which may be helpful to users who have no idea what slashfic is. (Heinz)
