This is an old meme. I read the book and saw the TV series in 1982. It's nice to see you kids are at last catching on, though. --Scarletto the sock puppet talk to Scarletto 14:05, 8 May 2005 (UTC)

Given that nothing links to this article, why does it live? Gerbilsage 14:54, 8 May 2005 (UTC)

  • 42. --kh/ what 15:23, 8 May 2005 (UTC)
    • Yes, I sort of walked into that one... Gerbilsage 16:34, 8 May 2005 (UTC)

It's worth noting that The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy wasn't considered geek culture back in the early eighties. It was very mainstream back then, hence its huge profitability and reiteration in various media. However, only the geeks and nerds have hung onto it for over twenty years. --Scarletto the sock puppet talk to Scarletto 19:32, 8 May 2005 (UTC)

To the person who claimed that "42" was found on the radio program and not in the book: I'm just wondering where you got that from, because I'm looking in the book right now and I'm seeing the whole "42" thing. Are you saying it wasn't originally part of the book but was added after the radio program aired? Note that I'm not looking to argue about this, I'm merely curious. --Joyce Jun'r 13:22, 9 May 2005 (UTC)

  • Watch your nerd-cred do a dive! The radio series was first, followed by the books. Gerbilsage 16:19, 9 May 2005 (UTC)
    • My God, you're so totally right! My nerd-cred is nil now! I think I'm going to cry! --Joyce Jun'r 16:21, 9 May 2005 (UTC)
      • Just say "Life, don't talk to me about life" when somebody uses the word "Life" in a conversation and your cred comes back magically. Gerbilsage 16:27, 9 May 2005 (UTC)

Serverl Thousand points for style but Good thinking. I think i got that quote more or less right, my nerd-cred and possibly my e-penis is on the line.
