Gravitation is popular because it's nothing but fanservice

Gravitation is about a pre-op transvestite/aspiring musician named Shuichi Shindou who falls in love with a cynical asshole named Yuki Eiri. Highlights include Shuichi denying the possibility that he, a skinny high-voiced boy with pink hair that dresses like Jubilee from the X-Men, could be homosexual. This show is literally worshiped by fangirls, for the sole fact that every single male character is a gay bishie and therefore if you do not like Gravitation, you must be homophobic. Even so, it contains no depictions of sodomy, since every fangirl is a hypocrite who luffs seeing girly men kiss and campaigns for gay rights, but buttsex is icky. In the manga however, there are several scenes where Shuichi takes it up the ass, and also a scene where a jealous musician from a rival band hires some bubba-esque gangbangers to rape Shuichi while he watches. It is by far the worst animu in existence, and therefore should die.

In the sequel, it is revealed that Yuki's brother is actually a transsexual, and is consistently referred to as "an annoying pre-op".

Rating

Action: 0: The closest you'll come to seeing any action is when Shuichi fantasizes about being raped for 10 seconds (bondage included) in the OVA. Also watch for the end of the second OVA where you see the two in a compromising position. Giveaway: Shuichi's needy voice towards his gay lover.
Lulz: 10: Basically the only real reason to watch this show is to make commentaries on what a dumb, whiny, needy bitch Shuichi is.
Furry Gayness: 20: This would be a zero, were it not for Ryuichi and his rabbit fursuit fetish. Also, Shuichi dresses like a dog a few times. He belongs in a furfag convention.
Regular Gayness:Over 9000: The only gayer animu ever created would be Revolutionary Girl Utena. This show is pretty much the Japanese version of Brokeback Mountain.

The Remixes

In order to toughen up her preteen faghag fangirls, Maki Murakami released a series of HAWT GHEY BUTTSEX!!! slashing every one of her characters together. Highlights of the series include being able to see Shuichi's internal organs and Yuki masturbating to his own shota rape and then having an incestuous threesome.
