Futurama

Futurama is The Simpsons with less pop culture references, more lulz, and more science fiction wankery, as the series is set in the year 3000. Some argue that Futurama is remembered as a shitty show that was so bad, that Fox would purposely let it's football games go longer than usual to ensure no one would have to sit through the shitty show on the East Coast. Others claim it's a vampire, which drained the lulz out of The Simpsons via Groening taking the writers who could actually write and forced them to work on Futurama, causing Simpsons to collapse into fail and AIDS. Either way, Fox killed the show dead but like a vampire, it's back in shitty direct-to-dvd movie format, giving Family Guy one more victory over Futurama as far as coming back onto the airwaves while Futurama rots in the "3 for $10" bargain bin at Wal-Mart. HAHAHA DISREGARD THAT, I SUCK COCKS. The show is back on in 2010.
In spite of this, the show has spawned three four internet memes: I see what you did there, Child Abduction, Second, and Hypnotoad.

The Show
In the year 2000, Fry is frozen for a thousand years in a cryogenic chamber. This is crucial because thanks to Fry's 20th century point of view, the writers have a running premise to work with: that the future is OMG different than the present, and everything is ironic! Basically, this allows them to kill time during episodes with jokes about futuristic stuff. He gets a job at Planet Express Delivery, along with the Professor, Leela, Bender, Zoidberg and a chick and nigger who no one cares about. This is another lazy move by the writers because now they can start every episode with the characters delivering a package to wherever the episode is going to take place, which they do.
Characters
- Phillip J. Fry: Retarded main character from the 20th century. He is voiced by Billy West, who also did every other voice on the show. Featured in the meme I see what you did there.
- Bender B. Rodriguez: A lazy, alcoholic, chain smoking, kleptomaniac robot. It was no surprise when it was revealed in the second season that he is actually Mexican. Dreams to one day kill all humans (except Fry, as he reveals in an overly baw inducing episode).
- Turanga Leela: The smart character necessary to actually move the plot forward. Leela is a cyclops that knows karate and is a strong, independent woman. She is voiced by Peggy Bundy (moar like Pegging your Bunghole, amirite?) from Married With Children.
- Prof. Hubert Farnsworth: 160 years old, this character is always forgetting things, falling asleep and yelling at people. Basically the same character as Grampa Simpson, except the Professor isn't as funny as the dying old man on The Simpsons.
- Amy Wong: A rich azn from Mars who's dating an alien. Largely an extremely useless character on the show that exists mainly so Leela can have someone to talk to. The second episode of the series explained that Amy was one of the Professor's former students during his days as a part-time college professor.
- Doctor John D. Zoidberg: Jewish lobster that has only four jokes on the entire show: being poor, eating everything, being disliked, and doing Jewish stuff.
- Hermes Conrad: The pot smoking Jamaican bureaucrat, needed to round out the collection of racial stereotypes.
- Zap Brannigan: William Shatner's lesser-liked twin who doesn't wear pants. Would have been voiced by the more talented Canadian actor Phil Hartman had he not been shot in his sleep with a .38 caliber by his drugged out whore.
- Kiff Kroaker: Zap's pussy lapboy and Amy's boyfriend. Despite dating Amy, Kiff gets impregnated by Leela in the 5th season (srsly. No, for realz).
- Nibbler: Leela's pet who is secretly an ancient alien spy sent to protect Earth and Fry so he can kill giant brains. Created largely to appeal to furries.
- Hypnotoad: Hypnotoad is a populALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD!!!
- Scruffy: The janitor
The straight-to-DVD movies (aka Season 5)
When Futurama got renewed, it was revealed that it would be just four straight-to-DVD movies instead of a series (even though the creators chopped each movie up into 4 episodes because they're too fucking lazy to come up with some more episodes). The four movies are:
- Bender's Big Score: Professor Farnsworth finds out that the retarded Fox executives have been fired and beaten to death for canceling Futurama, Hermes gets decapitated and Bender and Fry create a whole shitload of TIME PARADOXES!!!!!00110001001001111010000101101110011!. The movie ends with Bender dividing by zero and turning the universe into goatse.
- The Beast With A Billion Backs: After Bender tore the universe a new asshole in Bender's Big Score, a giant shemale tentacle monster called Yivo comes out of it and rapes everyone by making them deepthroat him/her in one giant gangbang. Fry and Zoidberg become the leaders of Scientology, Zapp fucks Amy after KIF DIES! and Bender takes over Earth and then becomes a pirate.
- Bender's Game: Leela has a fit of roid rage and smashes the shit out of the Planet Express ship, so Professor Farnsworth makes her wear a shock collar and she starts enjoying it. Meanwhile Bender goes batshit insane and thinks hes a knight. He gets sent to the nuthouse while Professor and Mom fight over some crystals. Some weird shit happens and they get sucked into Bender's imagination. From here on in it's just the Futurama characters doing some LARP and Fry and Leela are the only two that remember who they are. Also one of Mom's retarded sons (the one with the pink hair) is Farnsworth's son.
- Into The Wild Green Yonder: Here's the lowdown on the final Futurama movie. Amy's dad comes up with a brilliant final solution: Blow up teh universe to make way for a giant mini-golf course. Fry gets a piece of jewelery lodged in his brain and goes batshit insane because he can read minds, then he joins a cult called "The legion of mad fellows". Bender has an affair with a slutty fembot called Fanny, while Leela and Amy become feminists, and they all have a big hippy party and save a bunch of animals. The movie ends with Fry and Leela finally getting together inside the Planet Express ship, and then the whole cast gets sucked into a wormhole which Professor Farnsworth says could take them billions of lightyears away and they might never return. It's pretty much a cliffhanger ending, which has been turned out to be pretty stupid as Comedy Central has placed an order for 26 more episodes to air sometime in 2010.
