We are currently in the midst of funding probs. No, this is not a fucking false alarm people, we are looking for:

  1. A chill colo we can use to host our images at.
  2. A chill CC processor we can use to take donations. Not paypal, paypal is fucking bad.
  3. Basically providers in general who forward shit like dmca's to the ED, instead of just pulling the plug like pussies. It's because of our wiki nature and what we are documenting that we get a quite a few complaints. Chill means they forward shit to us for us to deal with it.

TOCright

sup /ed/. i have been looking into {{TOCright}}. I think it makes articles easier to read, BUT it does sometimes cut off div's, but it really isn't much of a problem. It also makes some of our Long pages alot shorter because we keep the TOC out of the real info. I think keeping the TOC on the right is alot better from a readers perspective. It's really up for grabs. I'm asking for input of everyone except miltopia. Places where we have it: Zeriara, Futuristic Sex Robotz. So, what's the opinion on block evasion? User:AnHeroIsSpeltWrong is banned, but still editing as User:Samsara. Subpages (ED is srs bsns)

I believe that some of our longer articles are deserving of moar respect to their story line. A person may look over Zeriara and say lol, and then they will want to see how the drama occurred, again, particularly in the case of loooooooooooooooooooooong articles. Maybe it's ADD or me wanting Attention, but I think we need to remedy these huge fucking articles. At least give them some sort of organization aside from headers.

Proactively, subpages allow people to gain greater insight on something TL;DR for casual readers. The Battle of Argent009, or Argent009's drama, is apart of the Youtube Civil War. Argent009's drama is looooooooong and lulzy, as is his person article. I believe that the use of subpage,s is a smart move, of our new era, where our articles are jam-packed with information can be made moar understandable. I tried to slip some subpages under the table, includes /youtube and /chat logs -- I think it was a good move, is it really feasible to have all chat logz, youtube videos, emails, letters, audio, etc. et al on the same page?

Currently we have Argent009's drama (Argent009/Drama), should it be physically merged, included, linked-in, deleted, what? Should larger articles of intrigue like feltcho and Duke Otterland have a drama subpage to go over the story in greater detail (if it exists)

  • We don't want to overdo subpages. While tl;dr == bad, subpages affect google ranking of pages in ways we don't really prefer. Templates, nuked page about eggs

The ED templates page will not load: cycles and then freezes.     • I reverted Templates & Templates/All to their last working versions. I tried to troubleshoot but pretty much got frustrated and quit; it's not the size tho.

For whatever reason, all subsequent versions including an edit made by Miltopia on 20:01, 29 September 2006 Miltopia (Templates) and 19:04, 29 September 2006 Miltopia (Templates/All) won't load at all (no source). But it's probably a template change made around Xmas when things got hinky.

Vids for users - userfy

Ok, the subpages for YouTube videos of article subjects are kinda gay IMO, but since I lack a solution I'll wait to complain on that.

These videos for ED users without articles shouldn't go in mainspace (they show up there - there's really no such thing as a real "subpage", that's just the term for it. Really, it's just a title with a slash in it, so they count as articles as much as any other page). They pop up in Special:Random and increase the article count, show up in orphaned pages, etc. How about we userfy those via page move? Miltopia 00:51, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Eggy strikes again

Greatly loving ED's page about him, Dave Eggers (or, right, his minions) has now had it nuked from Google (didn't think it possible) some time in the last four or so days. You get this result, but nothing for his name alone. This is now the third time, twice for Yahoo and once for Google. The trigger seems to be the threat of the page entering the top hundred. Recent changes made it start to move up on Google.

The relevant e-mail would be a hoot.

We need pic of the nows from here through forever -- not having one when the main page refreshes at 4pm Pacific every day makes ED look like fail. I would appreciate it if people would take up this project. Here's how:

  1. Find a funny, non-shock/porn image which is a minimum of 250px.
  2. Go here.
  3. Click on a red image link to edit that day's image.
  4. Insert the name of the image you have located. Ie, "Ceiling_Cat.jpg". No wiki necessary. Preview. Save.
  5. Go back and create a caption for the image by clicking on the corresponding red link in the list for January. Preview. Save.
  6. Possibly profit!

I baleeted template:baleetplz. It has been heavily used, but never really useful. If an article is truly shitty and has no purpose being on ED, leave it the fuck alone and let a sysop baleet it - we will eventually, and odds are pretty damn good we knew about the article before you had to make your presense known on it. If you absolutely must make your presense known, get the attention of a sysop, preferably via IRC. There are no lulz in the edit wars that have occured over this template (eh, the article it has been tagged with), it has been used far too many times on articles it should never have touched, and it has been used far too many times on obvious shit that a sysop was about to baleet anyway. Since it's outlived it's usefulness, I removed it from the tubes. I won't be too offended if another sysop reverses me, but again, I feel that this template should remain in the internet graveyard. Mailing List

I think that ED should have a public mailing list hosted on the website as our myspace keeps getting deleted. Some people who just visit ED once and never come back again could forget it exists and a mailing list would remind them of the lulz. If we hosted it on ED we would be the ones who moderated it and couldn't be deleted.
