Hi. There's a problem with the preferences, I noticed. The skin "monobook" and possibly others breaks ED. I set my account to use it, and now can't get any content, just "Fatal error: Cannot redeclare skin/monobook on line 25". I can't change it back, because the preference page won't load either. Laugh at me if you want, but it's really not my fault. Anyway. Can one of the admins reset the preferences for user Yirimyah? New Server

We have moved to a new sever. The down time over the past few days resulted in changing data centers and getting a new machine for better serving the lulz. Need Admins in training

Currently looking for 3-6 people to take over specific aspects of ED. We need a Template Czar and an Image Czar.
  • Template Czar - In charge of organizing current templates and keeping the Templates list current. Also should be able to make new and creative templates easily and quickly. This job is a little hard because you will need to be famaliar with wiki markup and also html, as well as have good organizational skills.
  • Image Czar - Someone to be responsible for creating galleries on specific articles and uploading lots of pictures to help articles be visually appealing. This job is VERY easy and requires little wiki skill. Just google for the images, choose a few, upload them and put the very easy gallery tag on them. It's easy like pie.

Doesn't have to be a single person. Can be a couple of people who work together. They can be the ED Gestappo or something. Any non-sysop who is interested and qualified can Talk me. Upward mobility may lead to sysopness. --girlvinyl 00:53, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

Template Unblock and others

Anyone seen those on wikipedia? Basically you're blocked unfairly and then you use {{unblock}} and no matter what, you're told no and if you try to put it back or complain, your talk page is frozen. Well ED now has a superior system. It may not technically be official, but it's awesome:

But they don't put unblock back to beg, they sit in:

I went on here today and saw http://www.wikipedia-watch.org/findchat.html and now it has checkuser. Plug the IP into it and we find out the wikipedia username of ED vandals. For instance, User:MONGO1 mentioned one mongo-like vandal of 203-109-225-187.bliink.ihug.co.nz and we find an exact match at "Konstable (n=kostatus@203-109-225-187.bliink.ihug.co.nz)" and that's Wikipedia:User:Konstable. This will be entertaining. Note, the IP must be changed from numbers to the semi-letter form and you plug part of it in to see close matches. The one I mentioined is an exact match. corporate information

i worked for a corporation and am not bound by law to surpress as a low level employee what intellectual property they have given me in the form of sheets, hand outs, training, etc, etc. the "code of ethics" was a non binding agreement not a contract, only a list of ways they can terminate you at their discretion, so i want to talk about how they train their sales people to fuck the customer, quote from documents I have, etc, etc. This is to the best of my knowledge perfectly legal. now, will the site get flack if i release intelletual property in the form of sales person training? i dont want ED sued by a major corporation but i want to fuck them back in a comparable way to the way they fuck everyone who walks through their door.

    • Well, for starters, there's the Leonassan saga. He posted a thread telling his pathetic life story in order to beg for money from the good people at POE. When, in a completely predictable turn of events, he finds nary a shoulder to cry on, he posts this thread, pretty much announcing his suicide. Shockingly, he yet again fails to acquire the sympathy he seeks, and a few POE regulars reply by outright telling him to kill himself and/or giving him directions. Then, this thread appears. Tomas, who was one of the harshest (and funniest) critics of Leo, announces that Leo's girlfriend told him through email that lil Leo actually went through with his suicide, and offers to take donations for his funeral costs. Predictably, there are many comments guilt tripping the people who poked fun, implying that they were somehow responsible for another human being's death because of posts they made to a message board. Then Tomas checks in again to tell everyone how Rishi (aka Specimens) donated 750 dollars to the cause, presumably in guilt over this particular post. He also uses an accusatory tone, implying that he's baffled at the cold-heartedness of those who don't seem repentent enough for their sins or who doubt the verility of his claims. Well, of course, it turns out that his story wasn't true, as was revealed when Leonassan posts in his own death thread. Turns out he, Leonassan, and Rishi were all in on it, as chronicalled by the orchestrator himself in this confessional.Besides the chorus of "I knew it!"s and "You got me!"s there are plenty of people who are really pissed about being fooled into thinking they provoked someone to kill himself, some of which actually donated money to Tomas, who was flippantly reluctant to give it back. Well, to cut a tl;dr story short, many people LEFT POE 4EVA, including at least a couple OG regulars, over this affair for some reason. I guess to them it represented a long standing and much debated over schism between what people called the "Chat Cabal", a group of friends, including Shmibbon, JSP, and up to 25 others, who hang out in POE chat together and made funny in-jokes that no one else got, and the others, either casual posters or regulars exiled from chat due to its clique-ish atmosphere (or more likely due to said exiled being annoying losers). Basically, people made such a big fucking deal over what amounts to a clever yet tasteless practical joke that it's never been quite the same over there.
