Earrape is shorthand for painfully loud music and/or noise broadcasted into the speakers (or, preferably, headphones) of unsuspecting noobs somewhere way across the internets. Earrape is a common trolling tactic on Ventrilo/Teamspeak and voicechat-enabled games such as World of Warcraft, Counter-Strike, Second Life, and so on.

[edit] Types of earrape

  • 3500hz square wave: A synthesized tone that corresponds to the most sensitive range of human hearing. Hurts like hell, even if the volume's not so loud. Made popular by the "You forgot Poland (Vote 5)" fad on YTMND.

  • Amplified Output: Another effective way to generate earrape is to set your output amplifier to max. In Ventrilo, this means opening the "Setup" dialog and dragging the "Amplifiers>Outbound" slider to +10 (See image). This will turn every sound that comes out of your microphone (or line in, or whatever) into ear-shattering cacophony of unbearable proportions.
  • Microphone Feedback: Perhaps the simplest method for generating earrape on Ventrilo and voice chat.
  1. Place microphone in front of speaker (or next to headphone).
  2. Turn up volume.
  3. Press "TALK".
  4. EARRAPE!
