Dreamcast
From Encyclopedia Dramatica
The Sega Dreamcast, AKA "Sega's dream that was never fully cast", was Sega's last console in the video game market. Because it was made exclusively for gamers, it is similar to genital herpes, because no matter how many times you think it's gone forever, it will always come back, except not quite as powerful as it was the last time. This is because it's nostalgic fanbase still obsess over it, even though it came out 11 years ago. But with the shitty consoles out today, can you really blame them? Because of the fanbase, people still make homebrew games for it. If you came to this article thinking that it would bash the Dreamcast, unfortunately you are wrong. But, at the same time it will not suck it's cock either.

History
Sega's glory days were over. They fucked up bad with the Genesis, and their Saturn was failing because it's architecture made it really hard to develop games for. So Sega decided to make a comeback. This time they were going to get it right. They were going to make a revolutionary system, and it would be a system exclusively for gamers. So they worked with Microsoft to make their new gaming system, the Dreamcast. After it's release they made good dames for it. Unfortunately, the PS2 managed to sway most of the consumers away with its super advanced "DVD PLAYER OMG", and it's support from EA games and Squaresoft. Yes, the Dreamcast seriously lost to Madden and Final Fantasy, two of the most overrated game series ever made. Meanwhile, college frat boys and 14 year old boys first discovered Halo and said "OH MY GAWWWWD! THIS GAME IS SO AWESOME BRO! HNNNNNNNNGGGGG", and thus, one of the first staples was laid down for what gamers today call a "casual gamer", and the Dreamcast was long forgotten by the mainstream.
Memorable Games
Some of the games listed here have sequels on the XBox. See XBox
Crazy Taxi - A game were you encouraged to drive like a maniac in a taxi car. Who could ask for more?
Phantasy Star Online - It's an MMORPG...ON A CONSOLE. Good thing that never caught on well.
Jet Grind Radio - Ever wanted to spray graffiti, while somehow dodging cops, armed paratroopers, crazy assassins, and tanks? Now you can!
Samba De Amigo - It's like a Wii game, except it doesn't suck.
Seamen - You talk to this fish guy through a microphone, and he's an asshole. That's just about it.
Shenmue - You play as this dude who's father was killed, who wont move on with his life.
Skies of Arcadia - An RPG...WITH PIRATES! Exciting right?
Sonic Adventure - The last decent Sonic game on a console. Also the last Sonic game where Dr. Robotnik could be taken seriously at all.
Sonic Adventure 2 - New Sonic fans claim this as the best Sonic game ever made. In reality, it's almost as bad as Sonic 06. This game has inspired countless shitty fanfictions and sprite comics.
Space Channel 5 - Earth is being invaded by aliens and you must dance to stop them.
Fanbase
The Sega Dreamcast fanbase will have you believe that they are smart, sophisticated, and well seasoned gamers. But in reality the Dreamcast's fanbase contains some of the most retarded fanboys. Not quite as bad as the Xbox 360's fanbase mind you, but still pretty bad. They constantly send Sega angry email letters asking them why they haven't made the Dreamcast 2 yet, and are known to spam Sega's forum with posts whining about how Sega sucks now and how they should get better this very second. They also make bullshit statements on how the Dreamcast 2 would do well today, obviously forgetting that the gaming market has been overrun by casual gamers who play nothing but Call of Duty 4, Guitar Hero, Halo, Madden, and the Wii. They also love to brag that they bought their Dreamcast on 9/9/99 (Day 1) thinking that will give them penis cred. When Sega announces that they are remaking a classic Dreamcast game, they will drink massive amounts of redbull, and go on a rampage of excitement destroying things. But when they buy the game and realize it sucks, they will throw anger fits and go on another rampage, this time out of anger, because, obviously isn't the first time Sega has done that. Because of this, the US government and the US Conservation Departments are now considering an open season on Dreamcast fanboys to "protect the environment". We wish them luck.
IGN Trolls Dreamcast Fans
In A.D. 2006, war was beginning. IGN created a mysterious new blog called Dreamcast 2. On it, they made blog posts hinting that there would be a second Dreamcast. The blog eventually became popular near the end of the year due to news coverage, and the blog itself managed to be pretty humorous. The blog said it was going to make an announcement a couple of months before the Dreamcast's Anniversary. There was even a post about a "mysterious" package that was sent to them by the president of IGN Japan. The president of IGN Japan even left a comment on that post. Because of all this, Dreamcast fans everywhere believed that there was going to be a new Dreamcast. What it turned out to be, was the official reopening of the Dreamcast section on IGN. This is possibly one of the best trollings IGN has done to date, as it pissed off countless fanboys, including the guy who wrote this article.
3 years later after everyone forgot about this, IGN made a top 25 Dreamcast games article on 9/9/2009, for the Dreamcast's 10th anniversary in North America. This list was perfectly reasonable, but for lulz sake, they left out both of the Sonic Adventure games and Shenmue. To add fuel to the lulz fire, they made an article where their staff dissed the game on the same day. This upset many Shenmue and Sonic fans, but not as much as their previous prank.
Dreamcast VS. Wii
Some Wii fanboys love to compare the Wii to the Dreamcast. They will go on about how the Wii is innovative and revolutionary in gaming, just like the Dreamcast was. They usually seem to forget one major detail. The the Dreamcast was aimed at hardcore gamers, while the Wii is aimed almost entirely at casual gamers. While the Wii is revolutionary, it lacks good 3rd party support, and most of its ports are mediocre compared to the 360/PS3 ports. The Dreamcast however, was in some ways the exact opposite, even in the 3rd party category. So really there isn't much to compare. There are some more points demonstrated in this video, unfortunately the guy comes off too much as an elitist fagot.
